Why feed raw?
Canines have the same digestive systems as their ancestors the wolves. Although our canines do not have the same hunting lifestyle as wolves their anatomy remains virtually identical. Aggressive teeth to tear meat coupled with their stomach and digestive tract setup to efficiently process high protein raw diets.
What is all involved in feeding raw?
There is no hiding that feeding raw is more time consuming and requires more attention compared to feeding kibble. Our diets are complete to take the extra work out of balancing raw food with veggies, vitamins and minerals. We recommend rotating proteins to give your pet the benefits of the different meats and when possible your pet may benefit from adding Fish Oil or Tripe a few times a week. You must take the time to thaw Vintage Raw Dog Food and carefully handle the raw meat so everyone in the house is safe.
Why is Vintage Raw Dog Food different?
We always use antibiotic and hormone free Canadian meat from certified suppliers and inspected facilities. We only use meat in our raw dog food that we would eat ourselves, 1st class Butcher Shoppe quality protein! Our blends are made with our tripartite-grind technique that results in a consistent fine ground bone. We make it complete by adding just the right amount of SuperFood Produce Veggies made with our binary-grind technique for maximum nutrient absorption. Finally Kelp is added to supply vitamins and minerals naturally. Your pet may also benefit by complimenting our blends with Tripe or Fish Oil 3-4 times a week.
How much do I feed?
Daily Feeding Guidelines for Fresh Frozen:
Puppy (< 1 yr) – 5% of body weight
Adult (1-7 yrs) – 2.5% of body weight
Active Adult – 3% of body weight
Less Active – 2% of body weight
Example: 100lb Less Active Adult dog would receive 2lbs per day.
Daily Feeding Guidelines for Dehydrated:
Under 10 pounds 1/8 cup or 15 grams
10 – 15 pounds 1/4 cup or 30 grams
15 – 25 pounds 3/8 cup or 45 grams
25 – 35 pounds 1/2 cup or 55 grams
35 – 50 pounds 3/4 cup or 80 grams
50 – 65 pounds 1 cup or 110 grams
What are the feeding directions for the Fresh Frozen Raw Dog Food?
Thaw & serve then store unused portion in refrigerator. Handle all raw meat with appropriate care and hygiene, wash all surfaces with hot soapy water. We recommend thawing our tubs in the fridge so it does not reach room temperature. Once the product is partially thawed you can portion out the meals. When the product is completely thawed but kept cold in the fridge we recommend using it in within 4 days. If the product reaches room temperature you should feed that portion the same day.
What are the feeding directions for the Dehydrated Dog Food?
Feed dry or rehydrated. To rehydrate, add equal amounts of food & cold water to a clean dish. Stir and allow 15 minutes for rehydration. Store in a cool, dry place.
What are some precautions to take when feeding raw Fresh Frozen meat?
Handle every meal with your pet the same way you would dealing with raw meat in your kitchen. Wash everything that is in contact with raw meat thoroughly including counters, serving utensils, bowls, hands etc. If there are children in the house do not allow them in the feeding area of the pet until everything has been cleaned.
How do you store Vintage Raw Fresh Frozen Dog Food?
Our fresh meat diets are kept frozen from the manufacturing facility all the way to retailer. We recommend storing our products in your freezer for up to 6 months until you are ready to use them. Freezer burn is not a concern from a nutritional standpoint as it only effects the appearance of the meat.
